THE ROCK BOOK

Ever since he started walking, my son has been obsessed with rocks. Every rock he picks up has something “special”: it’s shape, it’s color… he always comes up with a good reason to pick up yet another rock.

Last summer, we went to Ottawa and visited the Canadian Museum of Nature. One of his favorite exhibits was the one on rocks and minerals. He wanted to take all the rocks home, haha!

Then it hit me: we did not (yet!) have a book about rocks and minerals at home. So I searched and found this one to be the perfect introduction to rocks and minerals for my four year old son.

I really like that there is a lot of information – but yet still simple enough to understand. And I really love the side-by-side reading you can do: the book is specifically designed so that the child can read a few sentences and the rest can be read by a more advanced reader. This book (and probably more of that series) will have good shelf-life in our library, that’s for sure!
